The safety on our roads has always been the main goal to achieve, with the aim of reducing the high toll in human life which is paid every year. Studies have shown that 80% of car drivers considers the spraying of water by trucks as a more dangerous element than any other factor such as fog and/or snow. You only have to think that the tyres of a truck can raise up to 360 litres of water per minute. Based on these premises, the EUROPEAN COMMUNITY issued an EEC directive n. 91/226 dated 27/03/91, which provides that for all commercial vehicles above 7.5 tons (categories N2, N3, 03, 01) mudflaps type-approved according to what is provided for by the regulation, should be used. Through the use of these devices the EEC committee intended to improve the road safety level, not only for truck drivers but for the whole traffic. Besides the obvious positive results obtained in the safety field, the “NO SPRAY FLAP” system offers the transporters other advantages: - side windows and mirrors stay clean longer - less frequent washing - the silencer and the accessories get less dirty and last longer - advertising optimisation, since the writings on the tarpaulin remain visible when it rains In the following drawings and pictures, it is possible to find the type of use for the vehicle to be equipped. Any car repairer’s can install “NOT SPRAY FLAP” mudflap and adapt it to the different use situations.
The EEC directive requires to install on the sides of the above mentioned motor vehicles, devices which retain at least 85% of the sprayed water, which is raised by the tyres. The constructional concept is the same as with No Spray Flap mudflaps to be installed on the wheels, and they are moulded with the same specially made materials. By using our components we are ready to develop other solutions, according to the different building characteristics of trucks.
